"How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives."

(Annie Dillard, The Writing Life)

Curated Links.

I AM WORKING ON THIS RIGHT NOW!
Thanks for your tolerance of the not-yet-formatted display.

My current focus is framing everything from the viewpoint of Ecology, broadly defined as the relationships between and among everything. Time, Place, Senses and Species.

You’ll find links connected to many “best ofs.” You will also witness my striving to understand the “umwelt” of other beings - their unique intelligence and sensory worlds - as I open to them as Kin. I’ve left the older links - from when I was focused more on human health - at the bottom of the page..

Senses: Some Interesting Short Articles to Get You Thinking
How Many Senses Do We Have? (USC)
How Many Senses Do We Have? (Sensorytrust.org)
How Many Senses Do We Have? (Johns Hopkins)

Beginner Basics
Gratitude - 20-minute animated artistry on Gratitude, Reciprocity, and Ceremony (a la Kimmerer). Could be used as a warm-up or cool-down from this next link…
Robin Wall Kimmerer lecture (2019) - 50 minutes of Kimmerer in all her power, challenging, informing, inviting… deftly weaving story and science. Brava!
Suzanne Simard interview on On Being - Best of the book launch podcasts, trees and their entanglements underground with mycelial network and above ground with the humans… from the woman who wrote The Book (Finding the Mother Tree) (50 minutes)
My Gentle Rant about the terms “Non-Native” and “Invasive” (675 words)

If You Like to Read Books
Ways of Being by James Bridle
Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake

*Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer
The Home Place by Drew Lanham
**Eve by Cat Bohannon
**Sapiens  by Yuval Noah Harari
The Overstory by Richard Powers
Inflamed by Rupa Marya and Raj Patel
I Contain Multitudes by Ed Young
Becoming Animal by David Abram
***The New Wild by Fred Pearce
***Where Do Camels Belong? by Ken Thompson
Radical Mycology by Peter McCoy

*The audio book version also gets votes. I listened to a few as bedtime stories.
** If you want a gloriously deep and wide story of human history, read both Eve and Sapiens.

*** These two book have a similar theme of rethinking the ideas of “non-native” and “invasive” species. The New Wild is a little denser. Where Do Camels Belong? is a little lighter.

The Gaian Way

The philosophical path that recognizes Gaia as a living holobiont, made up of countless organisms, a being that we are part of, and that gives us our purpose, and that we are utterly dependent on for our survival.

The Interstitium
The interstitium is a body wide system virtually unknown to Western scientists until quite recently. It’s unified; connecting and wrapping around our organs, nerves, arteries, basically everything. The site seeks to begin collating resources and insights from those who have recognized this shift, in an effort to start cross-pollinating and securing resources to work more intentionally together.

The Plant Initiative
Their Mission: The Plant Initiative works to increase respectful treatment of plants and to advance an effective plant advocacy movement through encouraging policy, law, and activism on behalf of plants.

Talking Rivers
Their Vision: Through community conversations, Talking Rivers unites natural and human communities to keep Rivers healthy and flowing, and the watersheds they sustain flourishing.
I loved watching/listening to their Water Guardians symposium recording
