Earth Listening

Examples of Earth Listening…
A. Sit by a brook and ask "what would you like me to know?"
B. Gaze at a tree and exclaim "We are breathing together!" and then be quiet for while and notice what thoughts come into your mind.
C. Find some plants/herbs growing at the edges of the road. It is likely they showed up to remediate the soil. Thank them for showing up and ask them what you can do to help them, and then be quiet for while.
A gathering might follow this rhythm…
1. open with something that brings the group together and present – like a song – and then
2. invite people to find a spot/being to connect with, suggest 5 minutes of "getting to know" the being through observation and activation of senses
3. Time 20 minutes of silence, then
4. 20 - 30 minutes of either journaling, sketching, movement or some other art-making
5. Come together and share very briefly
6. End with a offering like maybe making a mandala of found material from where each person sat, or watering the plants around where we gathered
